In 2009, Exxon Valdez Captain Joseph Hazelwood offered a “heartfelt apology” to the people of Alaska.

    See? All better.

I was that close to a dead, beached grey whale once. The stench was the foulest smell I have ever smelt and it was detectable for more than a kilometre away. Also, the foulest goo was oozing out of it in a mini river down the beach.

Long before I had a digicam, alas.

LaTouche Island, not LaToucha. That’s Montague Island in the background.

Possibly. I could Google Map it to match. Looks pretty rugged and tall to be Knight. Plus, no Ingot/Disc or anything visible. Looks like the south end of LaTouchy.

So what? The place returned to pristine not long after. Just like there was very little damage done in the Gulf of Mexico after the BP platform explosion.
