Yeah, but I’m still confused. Did Kevin grow or did the garage shrink?

I legitimately thought that was Paul Rudd the first 3 times I watched it.

You know, this explains something. I always wondered how people managed to line up shots like this, or day-night transitions, or all the other stuff that needs precise alignment in two different times and places. I’d never though of just markering onto the display.

My first thought was this was a guy coming out of a really well made model house.

Also props to whoever made the gif. You see the effect and then how it’s done and by the time it all mentally clicks and you want to see again, it loops back to the beginning.

This is the process used to pull off a lot of shots in 2001: A Space Odyssey. There’s one scene where there’s a ship filling most of the screen, with several little sections on it that had other things layered into it like this. This was an incredibly difficult and time consuming process in the late 60s and made Stanley Kubrick go down in history. Now we can pull it off on an iPhone in an afternoon. Funny how things work, it’s like the easier life gets from technology the less groundbreaking things anyone can do.

So he figures out how to make it look like he’s a giant by combining two different shots together, but he doesn’t know how to record a landscape video?
