Nevermind that the lighting in *that image* makes no sense with any of the flat earth models I’ve heard of.

Ive done personal experiments, and found that there is no earth. We are living in a pumpkin shaped like a cowboy hat.

One of the main questions I have about a flat earth is what does anyone have to gain by claiming the earth is spherical if it is indeed flat.

I also wonder how they justify it being night in one country and day in another if the sun is directly over both at the same time.

    It just makes no sense.

Of course in this case the word *research* should be in quotation marks.

I’ve always wondered what the justification is for flat Earth theory. Go up in a plane or even a high building, you can only see so far due to the curvature of the earth. Like ffs, come on

If you’re the sort of person who Googles “truth about holocaust”, there’s a strong chance you’re already poised to believe denialist arguments just by the nature and phrasing of the question (it implies there’s some “hidden truth” to be discovered, and genuine holocaust websites don’t need to offer insecure “this is the truth” proclamations and caveats). If you turn into a proselytising denier thereafter, it’s not because sound arguments and evidence convinced you or that “mainstream” consensus failed to convince you otherwise. Goes for pretty much any topic, including 9/11 trutherism and flat eartherism. Every person on a flat earther forum who says “I researched the topic and became convinced of the truth, but I don’t know anyone who believed in a flat earth then switched sides after researching it more closely” is just an example of the “truth about x” insecure Googler.

The thing that explains the seeming lack of “flat earther becomes round earther” testimonials is the fact that the topic has only gained traction in the last year or so, therefore the exodus of flatbois back into mainstream society hasn’t had a chance to start yet. It usually takes a while for the tide to change, and for people to become comfortable with being wrong after embarrassing themselves in public with grand paranoid rants and handing out free DVDs of shit-fingered documentaries; 9/11 trutherism is all but gone by now, kept alive in the public consciousness only through memes about jet fuel, but it took a good 10 years before sanity regained its grip. Flat earthers will probably take as long, given how severely stupid you need to be to buy into it in the first place,

I personally think that flat earthers are playing the long con. They are trying to troll Elon Musk / NASA hard enough so one of them gets a chance to go into space so Musk can prove its the earth is round. Sure, its a long shot that Musk / NASA will pick you, but its likely your best chance. You increase your chance by being the loudest, having the stupidest arguments.

I mean, why else would someone defy all the evidence and say the earth is flat?

I don’t know much about flat Earth theories, but one flaw I immediately notice is that according to this image, if you wanted to travel from one side of the South Pole to the other side of the South Pole, you would either have to cross the entire width of the planet, or traverse the entire rim of the planet, in order to do so.

Flat Earth is like every conspiracy theory… No matter how realistic a conspiracy theory is or not, regardless of the evidence or lack of it, you will always see morons that believe it so they feel special like they know something most people don’t.

What I want to know is rather simple. In fact, a 5th or 6th grader can answer it.

    – So if the Earth is flat, how come it’s dark in the US, yet light in places like Europe and Asia?

    – If the Earth is flat, how come some certain places experience 6 whole months of daylight and 6 whole months of darkness at a time?

    – If the Earth is flat, how come we have 4 seasons in most parts of the world? How is the equator hotter, while the poles are colder?

    – If the Earth is flat, how do the constellations move in the sky and planets disappear yet we see some of the same stars? Shouldn’t we see different stars?

    – If the Earth is flat, why do we have moon cycles? What shadow is covering light on the moon?

    – If the Earth is flat, how come I can’t see Mount Everest on a clear day from Pennsylvania? It’s the highest thing in the world. I can’t even see the Empire State Building from my house.
