    14 seasons with us, 11 of those straight were 20+ goal seasons. 40 goals twice, one of those being a 50 goal season. Second all time in points by an Avalanche.

    Yeah, pretty deserved. Congrats Hedjuk!

    Wow. Didn’t expect to see this when I woke up. It’s the perfect distraction without a Zads deal or Duchene trade lol

    But seriously good for Duke, while he isn’t on the same level as the rest of the guys up there, I really don’t have any problem with this because nobody was going to wear it anyways. If its unofficially retired you might as well give the player the satisfaction of retiring it.

    Just the break down his career with the Avs..

    * 14 Seaons, 1020 regular season games

    * 300+ goal scorer with 375

    * 11X 20+ Goal Scorer, 5X 30+ Goal Scorer, 2X 40+ Goal Scorer and 1X 50+ Goal Scorer

    * 800+ points with 805

    He ranks 1st in games played with the Avalance. He has 150 games more than second place Joe Sakic

    He ranks 2nd in goals. Trailing Joe by 16 and leading second place Forsberg by 173.

    He ranks 3rd on the team in assists with 430

    He ranks 2nd all time in points

    He is 3rd in playoff goals, assists, points and games played

    Unpopular opinion…

    I loved him and he was a fantastic player, but retiring his number? I almost feel like they’re just retiring all the core pieces of the glory years for fanfare.

    I don’t think Foote or Bourque should be up there either, Foote was great and Bourque was too short lived, but I have a high standard for retiring the jersey. It should be legends of the game, not just great fan favourites.

    With retiring Duke’s number, does that mean we now have a full line in retired numbers?

    We could debate all day whether they should retire his number. I don’t care. Many of us are just happy to see it happen.

    Fuck Yeah! It’s about fucking time that Dukes number is hung up on the rafters. It’s only a fitting way to honor his NHL career by hanging his number at the Pepsi Center.

    Hejduk has done everything he’s asked for and had played his whole career with us. It would have been a fucking shame if the longest tenured Avs player wasn’t up there. Hejduk was the only number missing up there from the greats of the 90s and early 2000s Avs, and happy to see this Chapter close and Hejduk number will finally be raised.

    Thanks for your Career, Hejduk. I was hoping to have your number raised sooner, but now happy that we will honor you number Retirement.

    Fuck Everyone else who think Hejduk number shouldn’t be retired.
