Seems like congress needs to shore up what the executive is trying to break.

I still don’t understand how this doesn’t warrant more coverage?! I understand Irma is a major situation right now but this is actual solidification that there is intrinsic collusion with Russia inside the Trump office.

Bill Browder’s Twitter feed on this is interesting. He seems to think that this is actually a move that is necessary to implement the act: https://twitter.com/Billbrowder/status/906320344721616896

This could be huge if anything actually gets altered.

So frustrated that this hasn’t gotten more attention in the news. Media outlets can go ahead and jump off their fucking high horse about reporting to the public if they’re not going to bring this to light. Ratings whores more than anything else.

When I first read about this yesterday, I was totally enraged & freaked out. Then I read more carefully.

Guys, there is nothing in this memorandum about ALTERING sanctions. The Dumpster is delegating his authority to ADMINISTER the sanctions.

THERE ARE PLENTY OF THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT, COMPLAIN ABOUT, AND ACT AGAINST, BUT I DON’T THINK THIS IS ONE OF THEM.

In fact, this seems like a fairly standard move for an executive administration that plans to comply with Congressional action.

If anyone can show me where he’s announced intentions to defy the Magnitsky act, please do. Seriously though, this looks to me more like a standard delegation of authority from someone who lacks the intelligence & motivation to enforce anything at all.

Edit: I don’t understand why I’m getting downvoted for this comment. I hate Trump as much as everyone else here.

The global Magnitsky act is a different statute than the 2012 Magnitsky act that targeted Russia.
