Man that game hurts so bad. We have a nice roster, a fairly deep team and finally improved our bullpen issues, and we still go down. I won’t dispute the officiating calls, while I disagree with some of them we made too many mistakes high school ballplayers shouldn’t be making, but man this just hurts.

We have a group capable of making a World Series run, but I was just going to enjoy a playoff series win finally, period.

Congratulations to the Cubs, good luck getting your team in order for the Dodgers, but you did what you had to in order to advance and we tried the same it just didn’t work out.

Can we like, take a small break from baseball? Maybe for like a week? I need time to recover after this game.

What a fucking battle. I’m half dead. I drank like 30 old styles. Nats fans, losing sucks, we know that as much as anyone, but don’t hang your heads. That was incredible, and you’ll be back.

Cubs fans, I love you. Goodnight Chicago.

i have a complaint about this game. is it just me or were the tbs announcers super shitty? i haven’t watched baseball in years. watched tonight’s game because i live in chicago. and i can’t believe how off-putting and boring the tbs announcers were. it was a crazy game, a playoff game, and the announcers are acting like they are describing a PTA bake sale.

normally i watch nfl games and am annoyed at the announcers for never shutting up, but they still get exicted about the game. these guys just didn’t seem to care at all. fucking run scored on a swung 3rd strike? i have never seen that in my life, it happens in a playoff game and these guys are like, meh, who cares. baseball is apathy.

yesterday i had the game on the radio in the car. the guy was like, THERE ARE BIRDS IN THE OUTFIELD. HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THE BIRDS. THE OUTFIELDER IS SHOOING THEM AWAY. IT’S AMAZING! MY GOD It’S AMAZING! he was that excited about fucking birds, he lost his shit when actual baseball happened. why can’t the national announcers even fucking pretend to be excited about a serious playoff game? shit like this is why people say that basebal is boring. and yes i have been drinking. you aren’t my mom.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Joe Maddon. His strategy is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical baseball most of his bullpen moves will go over a casual fan’s head. There’s also Joe’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his rosters- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Fangraphs literature, for instance. The die hard fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these pitching changes, to realise that they’re not just strategic- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Joe Maddon truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the profoundness in Joe’s existential catchphrase “That’s Cub” which itself is a cryptic reference to Michael Poryes’ epic That’s So Raven. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Theo Epstein’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Joe Maddon tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Let me recap the 2017 sports season so far as a DC sports fan:

Wizards lose in game 7 to Boston in the 2nd round a round away from the conference finals

Capitals lose in game 7 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2nd round a round away from the conference finals

Nats lose in game 5 in the NLDC one round away from NLCS.

Moral of the story FUCK ME as a DC sports fan, thank god there’s such a thing as alcohol.
