Hans Zimmer and Radiohead. Im peaking.

    >Zimmer and the band have worked together on recording an orchestrally re-imagined version of Radiohead’s song Bloom

    >Yorke said: “Bloom was inspired by the original Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song and re-imagine it for this incredible landmark’s sequel.

    >Zimmer said: “Bloom appears to have been written ahead of its time as it beautifully reflects the jaw-dropping lifeforms and seascapes viewers are introduced to in Blue Planet II.

    >”Working with Thom, Jonny and the boys has been a wonderful diversion and it’s given me an interesting peek into their musical world. They’ve been incredible to work with and I hope everyone likes the track.”

I have a feeling this will be similar in style to the solo Thom piano version, with sprawling strings, piano, and his amazing melody. Can’t wait to hear one of my favourites reimagined.

Ok, it looks like it’s a new version called “ocean bloom”? I’m just happy the rest of the band is included and it’s not just Thom. When is this being released? Hopefully, there is more than just Orchestra music in the background.

Is anyone else surprised Nigel isn’t the producer? When is the last time a RH song (including collaboration) was not produced by Nigel? Hoping the Waters ugliness did not put Nigel in a bad position and that there’s another reason for a producer switch!

I feel like the slowed down version he did in Paris would fit something like this perfectly.

WAIT, WHAT THE FUCK? David Attenborough’s Blue Planet was my favourite when I was a child. Now I hear that Radiohead’s recording music SPECIFICALLY for it?

I’m so excited for this!!! It’s amazing how many iterations Bloom has gone through in just a few years. It kind of reminds me of how Weird Fishes has gone through a bunch of iterations too. They both have a stripped down solo version, they both have a Thom + Jonny version, and they both will have an orchestral version now. Plus they’re both ocean themed

Fantastic news. Love Bloom, but I always thought Codex evoked images of the deep blue and its crazy creatures.
