This may be a bit presumptuous but I feel like some people don’t take this stuff as seriously as they should. I get that there’s not much a common Reddit User can do in a comment section of a post, but raising awareness, I feel, is very important in electing certain officials into office that believe in science and the effects it has on our planet. By raising awareness, I mean voting and supporting those who, like I said, give a damn about this planet. Spreading the word, telling friends and family, co-workers, the list goes on. Looking at the aftermath of the comment section of an important post about Trump’s EPA or Climate Change in general, or whatever the topic, is insane. You have all these shitty jokes, then people branch off of those shitty jokes, and so on. Now I understand that this is what Reddit is all about; talking with other users about common interests (through sub-reddits) and what not, but I want to see this planet develop. I want to grow up (only 17 yo, yippity doo da) into a world filled with technology, design, engineering, a drive foe success, the betterment of the human kind, space exploration, etc. . You can take this with a grain of salt, I’m not asking anything much of you guys. Just kinda view this as a rant towards fucking idiots like this Ms. Kathleen Hartnett White who only say what they say for a quick paycheck, only for them to die 20 or so years later, leaving the future generation with the remnants of the shit that hit the fan.

    >White told the Senate panel that carbon dioxide is “an atmospheric gas” that serves as a “plant nutrient.”

There is a grain of truth in her statement.

Plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. In a greenhouse, that can tip the growing environment a bit to far to the oxygen side, inhibiting growth and productivity. Composting inside the greenhouse gives off CO2, tipping the scale slightly back to the best atmosphere for growth.

But that is in a greenhouse where atmosphere can be monitored and adjusted. Outdoors, it is the CO2 level that is rising and an excess of CO2 inhibits plant utilization of nitrogen, which is the primary nutrient for plant growth.

Thus her grain of truth revealed woeful ignorance or masked an outright lie.

Candidates should wear the logos of the companies that PAC fund their campaigns in their clothes, like car racers. She obviously would have oil companies all over her.

A guy that is friends with a friend of mine said on a post once that the wealthy don’t really want to the job of being in power. They want people who aren’t smart enough to realize that they dance to their tune instead.

Gotta love the double standards: federal heads of agencies say science isn’t relevant in policymaking. Meanwhile, those receiving federal grants are required to implement data-driven policies and practices.

Yea 7 billion people earth and we have no impact whatsoever on the carbon dioxide emissions. There’s no evidence at all, not the cars or the planes we use, not the huge farms that put off all this carbon dioxide. Not of that effects it. Why can these people stay so true to their denial? Is that what’s millions of dollars does to your head? You become delusional?
