He literally announced his retirement through a Kingsford advertisement

…and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

2012: 8th best defense in rushing yards allowed

2013: 30th best defense in rushing yards allowed

2014: 2nd best defense in rushing yards allowed

(Guess which year Vince tore his achilles)

Can he sign a 1 day contract with us and then start a D-line coach so he can teach some of the younger fellas the art of forcing butt fumbles

One of our best players in the Brady Era- Such an awesome attitude and a commanding on the field presence. We’ll always remember him for his excellent role in the Butt Fumble, but my personal favorite Wilfork play was [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpO9sLIFtCs).

Probably my happiest draft day moment as a Pats fan. We were picking 21st overall. Vince was viewed as a pretty clear top 10 guy, and nobody thought he’d slip past the Texans at #10, given their need for a NT. The debate among Pats fans was whether we should hope Steven Jackson would be there at 21, whether we should move up for Jackson, or whether we should make a big move up for Wilfork… and then on draft day Vince (and Jackson) fell all the way to 21. He was the perfect addition for that team with Washington leaving, and he gave us *such* a talented DL together with Seymour and Warren.

That is EXACTLY how i envisioned his retirement announcement! Fucking great guy and well deserved…no we need to sign him for a one day contract so he can be out into the Hall and retire a Patriot!

For those who ~~don’t remember~~ just want to watch it again, don’t forget the [Butt Fumble](https://youtu.be/82RIfy-gRa4) where Wilfork literally lifted Moore off the ground and threw him into Sanchez, causing the fumble which lead to the Jets ultimately giving up 21 points in less than 60 seconds of game time.

Edit: Then changed to Than, because grammar.

Man, my favorite thing about Big Vince is how easy it is to watch him play. I find with other defensive guys it can be hard to follow them post snap because the camera follows the ball but I could always pick up that giant #75 and get a grand lesson in D-Lineman play.

Big Vince, I congratulate you on an amazing career and wish you the best.

How can one not love that man? I hope his meats are really that good and he can start up some restaurants across NE. People would love to chow down on some ribs while watching a game…especially if the big man is in the building too.

I don’t love the idea of sponsored retirements… but that one was really well done. And it felt like Vince Wilfork.

I’m just not sure if I want to see Tom Brady ‘drive off into the sun in an Aston Martin!’
