Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander & Sienna Miller Close PFW With A Bang At Louis Vuitton

Nicolas Ghesquière closed Paris Fashion Week by calling on his close friends and muses, who also happen to be the biggest names in film and fashion, to attend the Louis Vuitton autumn/winter 2019 show. Filing into the Louvre, which had been decked out to look like the inside of the Centre Pompidou, one by one was Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander, Sienna Miller, Thandie Newton, Chloë Grace Moretz, Laura Harrier, Jennifer Connelly, the list goes on. If Virgil Abloh, the menswear creative director of the house, brings his inner circle of music maestros and street-style tastemakers into the spotlight come show day, Ghesquière’s front row line-up is all about glossy household names. The thing that sets them apart, however, is the grit that underlines their glamour.

The BAFTAs Proves Laura Harrier & Louis Vuitton Are The Perfect Sartorial Match Yet Again

Take Vikander, for example, who has been pictured enjoying the sights of Paris with her husband Michael Fassbender over the past few days. The Swedish actor last appeared on big screens as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, but her CV also lists softer roles in films such as The Danish Girl. Connelly, too, last took on futuristic action film Alita: Battle Angel, but her varied CV dates back to 1982. Remember her in Labyrinth? How about He’s Just Not That Into You? Both of their combined character lists comprise females who you feel could turn up to an event playing nicey-nicey in a Louis Vuitton dress, and then drop-kick you thanks to the chunky biker boots hiding underneath. It’s a wonder why Jodie Comer, who plays the artful assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve, was not in attendance at the show.

Ghesquière has spoken previously about the Louis Vuitton women being like warriors, but surely, this is about the feeling rather than the uniform he dresses them in. His clothes buoy up the wearers, whether that’s Stone’s angular shouldered Oscars 2019 gown which took 712 hours to make and 22 people to fit, or the skirt Jaden Smith, who was also in attendance, wore in his spring/summer 2016 campaign for the house. The question is, with a select number of Met Gala 2019 guest slots for Ghesquière, who will he choose to stand with him on the red carpet come May 6? There could be punches thrown.
